Projects

Ongoing projects and initiatives you can get involved in

Here are the projects that we are currently working on. If you'd like to get involved please send us an email or join one of our action groups.

Tree Planting

We will be planting 200 saplings in the village sometime in the near future. Watch this space as details will be posted soon.

Trees remove carbon dioxide from the air, making them one of the best solutions for protecting our environment and achieving net zero emissions.

Lift Share Scheme

Sign up for our village lift share scheme and reduce your carbon footprint as well as your travel costs.

To sign up, please enter your details into this form.

If you wish to edit your details click here, or to unsubscribe from the scheme click here.

You’ll be matched up with others commuting from South Cerney on routes similar to yours and left to make arrangements that suit you both. Of course your details will not be shared for any other reason than to put you in contact with your lift share matches.

Refill Network

The Consumer Choices group has been working to get more local businesses signed up to the Refill free tap water scheme, aiming to reduce the use of single-use plastic water bottles.

There are currently almost 200 Refill stations across the UK. Use of the network just twice a day could save 10 million single-use plastic bottles.

Climate Emergency Declared

The Political Pressure group is seeking a meeting with district councillor Mark Harries who will be coordinating local responses to the climate emergency declared by Cotswold District Council in July 2019.

South Cerney Parish Council also declared a climate emergency in July and has established a Climate Committee (made up of a mix of parish councillors and other residents) to investigate, promote and take actions to reduce the parish's greenhouse gas emissions.

Walking Bus Scheme

The potential for a walking school bus scheme to serve Ann Edwards Primary School is being explored by the Local Travel group. This would involve a group of children walking to school with one or more adults rather than travelling there and back by car, thereby cutting back air pollution hotspots and reducing traffic hazards.
