Who Are We?

What is Cerney Climate Action?

Cerney Climate Action

Cerney Climate Action (CCA) is a group of local people living in the parish of South Cerney and Cerney Wick in Gloucestershire who are committed to raising awareness of the climate crisis and effecting changes that will reduce our community’s carbon footprint.

We aim to do this by:

  • encouraging local people to reduce their carbon emissions through individual action
  • establishing community projects aimed at improving sustainability and biodiversity
  • working collaboratively to influence local and national politicians, and to support the climate emergency declarations of both South Cerney Parish Council and Cotswold District Council
  • sharing experience with like-minded action groups and environmental organisations

Why Climate Change Matters

Extreme weather events are increasingly common and are evidence of the lasting and negative impact climate change is having on our world.

It means our best chance of keeping global warming at levels that we and nature can live with is to limit the temperature rise this century to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

So that’s our challenge - to do what we can to promote urgent change at a domestic and local level and, by example, to hold our decision-makers, locally and nationally, to the climate promises and commitments they have made.

How You Can Help

Each of us wants a better and more sustainable world - for ourselves, our children and our children’s children. But that future can no longer be taken for granted in the face of climate breakdown.

Cerney Climate Action, like other groups across the UK and abroad, is a positive response to what may seem an overwhelming problem. By working together, we provide both a forum for individual action as well as opportunities to work collaboratively on community-based projects of wider enviromental impact.

If you live in South Cerney or Cerney Wick, and would like to join us to combat climate change, do please get in touch.
